Where Memory, Nature, Humor, and Wonder Meet in Verse.

Finding Wonder in Ordinary Life

Poetry is everywhere.
It lives in conversations shared with friends, in birds crossing the morning sky, in memories that return unexpectedly, and in life’s biggest questions about love, purpose, aging, and time.

Welcome to the official website of Roy Lisi, author of Purple Falling Stars: Collected Sonnets, a collection that transforms everyday experiences into thoughtful reflections on what it means to be human.

Through traditional sonnet forms and a contemporary voice, Roy’s poetry explores memory, creativity, nature, relationships, humor, and the search for meaning. His work invites readers to slow down, look more closely, and rediscover the beauty often hidden within ordinary moments.

About The Author

Poetry entered Roy Lisi’s life in a surprising way.
In February 2014, an unexpected phrase came to him during the night:
“I dreamed a dream of purple falling stars.”
The words inspired him to write a sonnet, despite having written very little poetry since studying Shakespeare many years earlier. What began as a single creative experiment soon developed into a rich and rewarding poetic journey.
Today, Roy’s work reflects a lifetime of experiences, observations, and questions. Drawing inspiration from nature, music, friendship, family, philosophy, and everyday life, he creates poetry that is thoughtful, accessible, and deeply human.
His sonnets celebrate both the extraordinary and the ordinary, inviting readers to find meaning, beauty, and humor in the world around them
